Late Recurrences in Soft Tissue Sarcomas - A Review

Sarcomas are malignant tumors that arise from the connective tissue. Soft tissue is part of and includes fat, muscle, nerves, tendons, blood lymph vessels. sarcomas (STS) account for 1 percent all adult cancers in U.S. Leiomyosarcoma (LMS) a type STS grows smooth muscles. LMS accounts 7-11% cases STS. Generally, treated with wide margin surgical resection some patients offered radiation and/or chemotherapy to decrease recurrence. Recurrences generally happen first two years late recurrence defined as appearance original cancer after 5 following initial treatment being disease free.
